Ichiro Wins Another Gold Glove
November 10th 2010 01:26
The Mariners outfielder for the tenth year in a row earned a gold glove. Ichiro joined the league in 2000 from Japan and has earned the award ever since then. Mark Teixara, Robinson Cano and Derek Jeter from New York Yankees join Ichiro on the team. Ichiro's teammate Franklin Gutierrez won for the first time, Evan Longoria and Carl Crawforde earned theirs while playing for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Joe Mauer, his third appearence and pitcher Mark Buehrle, second, round out the club.
Ichiro inches closer to the record of 12 gold gloves from an outfielder with Willie Mays and Roberto Clemente both sharing the honor. Ichiro earned an $50,000 dollar bonus as did Gutierrez. Too bad the great fielding didn't result in more victories for the Mariners who finished with a league worst 61 wins in 162 games.
