Hue Jackson out at Oakland

The Oakland Raiders have fired head coach Hue Jackson after an 8-8 season. The Raiders were in control of the AFC West after 11 games with a 7-4 record, but an 1-4 finish enabled Denver to reach the top of the division.
New General Manager Reggie McKenzie who arrived from Green Bay to rebuild the franchise, has somebody else in mind as the new coach. McKenzie has spent the last 18 years working for the Packers in the front office. Since 2002, the Raiders have had six head coaches, a number which continues to increase.
The Raiders made a trade for Carson Palmer after starting quarterback Jason Campell went down to injury. At first Palmer was a great fit, but after starting running back Darren McFadden was lost to injury, the marriage began to tire down. Backup running back Michael Bush struggled to keep the running game afloat, instead putting more pressure on Palmer. This and a terrible defense led to the 1-4 finish.
In other NFL coaching news, the Jacksonville Jaguars hired Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey as the new head coach of the team. Jacksonville fired Jack Del Rio in late November, and have since had Mike Tucker as the interim head coach. Tucker posted a 2-3 record over the final five weeks of the season. Mularkey has some talent to work with on the offensive side in quarterback Blaine Gabbert and running back Maurice Jones Drew. The lack of a strong receiver killed the Jaguars this year.
