A murder warrant has been issued for former NBA player Javaris Crittenton by the Atlanta police department.
22-year-old Julian Jones was walking with a group of people on August, 19th in Atlanta when she was shot by a passing vehicle. She died at the scene. Police believe Jones wasn't the intended victim, and the shots were fired as retaliation for a robbery which occurred in April.
Police recovered the vehicle used in the shooting, a rented SUV, which Crittenton picked up for a family member. Police had the family member as the prime suspect in the case, before new information came Thursday, signaling Crittenton as the shooter.
Crittenton used to play for the Washington Wizards, and Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA before making stops in the NBDL this past season. While on the Wizards, Crittenton brought a gun to the Wizards locker-room during a dispute with teammate Gilbert Arenas. He was subsequently suspended for the remainder of the 2010 season, a mere 38 games. Crittenton later plead guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge and received probation.
