Easter's Quadruple Header in the NBA
April 24th 2011 02:34
Don't look now but Miami is putting together the team everyone feared in pre-season, having Philadelphia on the ropes. Game four is first on the schedule for Easter. The New York Knickerbockers, finally in the playoffs after seven years off are on the brink of a short stay as Boston looks to end the series in game two. Atlanta hosts Orlando without Zaza Pachulia, while the Magic are without Jason Richardson as the two got suspended for a little tussle in game three. Finally the Lakers will look for a 3-1 series lead as they face New Orleans in game four.
Miami is still just a three-man team, and this will eventually be exposed as the playoffs drag on. Boston is putting together a great team effort as they knock out the Knicks. The Celtics will be the second round opponent for Miami. Philadelphia has yet to get a great perfomance out of Andre Iguodala, making everything more difficult for Elton Brand and Jrue Holliday. Philadelphia needs something from the former Arizona Wildcat in Sunday's action.
Lebron James is filling up the stat-sheet in this series, averaging 25 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists. Dwayne Wade led the Heat with 32 points in game three, while Chris Bosh is finally playing averaging 22 points per contest. Don't see Philadelphia keeping up in the fourth unless Iguodala shows up, as Miami earns the first sweep of the 2011 NBA playoffs.
Amare Stoudemire is still on the eve of what will likely be the final game of the series, claiming he won't play if his back is sore. What? Seems silly to me, as the Knicks need Stoudemire to play for a possible win. Boston has a commanding 3-0 lead, and without Stoudemire or Chauncey Billups, New York has no chance. Game three was very ugly for the Knicks as nobody could score, including Carmelo Anthony who went for 15 points. Shawne Williams scored 17 to lead the Knicks.
Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo put on a show with Stoudemire suffering through the game. Pierce scored 38 points, connecting on six 3-pointers, Allen finished with 32, drilling eight 3-pointers. Rondo had 15 points, 20 assists, and 11 rebounds! Wow what three great performances, guess it makes it easy for Rondo having those two great shooters on fire as they were. Boston keeps it up, winning another and move into round two.
I don't see the Hawks losing game four after how well they played in game three. Dwight Howard has too much on his shoulder in this series. Especially without Richardson, Orlando has no chance. Anything's possible but this seems like a series headed to six with the Hawks winning in the end.
Jamal Crawford, and Joe Johnson are both having great series's for the Hawks. Atlanta is just out-hustling and out-manuevering the Magic. Balanced scoring with Crawford, Johnson, Kirk Hinrich, Josh Smith, and Al Horford is the key for the Hawks. Another win, and a commanding 3-1 series lead? I think so.
Emeka Okefor finally had a good game against the Lakers. Scoring 15 points and pulling down eight rebounds was good for the Hornets. Los Angeles still was in the lead for most of the game en route to a 100-86 win. Chris Paul and Carl Landry continued to play great for the Hornets. Landry scored 23 points, and Paul finished with 22 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. The bench didn't help like they had previously in the series as the Lakers proved too strong.
Kobe Bryant finished with 30 points to lead the Lakers in the game. The Gasol brothers have two of them playing in the playoffs as Pau made an appearance, scoring 17 points, and 10 rebounds. Brother Marc plays for Memphis . Andrew Bynum continues to dominant Hornets centers, going for another double-double. Here's to an Easter day miracle with the Hornets winning another Sunday game! I wish. But, don't see it as the Lakers win, though the game will be closer then Friday's.
