Eastern Conference battles highlight Monday's games

April 18th 2011 01:28
Monday's two playoff games are game two's with the top two seeds in the Eastern Conference. After the two top teams in the West went down to defeat, every home-team is on alert. Indiana nearly pulled off the unthinkable on Saturday in knocking off Chicago, though the Bulls recovered in time to win. Philadelphia got off to a quick start then stalled, only to come alive when it was too late versus Miami. Now is the time for the higher seeds to rebound and pull off the win and even out their series.

The Bulls came out sloppy Saturday, I don't see this happening in game two. Chicago was able to turn the tide with Derrick Rose's timely shooting and stops on defense when it mattered. Indiana was able to shoot the ball well whenever they wanted too for three and a half quarters, this ended down the stretch. Now the Bulls have smarted themselves up for game two or have they? We will have to see in the second game of a double-header tomorrow night.

Monday's first game has the Heat hosting Philadelphia. Dwayne Wade is battling migraines though he fought them off for most of the game on Saturday. Wade is expected to play again as they are supposedly improving. He scored 17 points in game one, five of them in the final two minutes as the Heat fought off the 76ers. Philadelphia was able to get great play out of Thaddeus Young in building an early lead. Young and teammates went cold at the wrong time as the Heat won the game. Chris Bosh overshadowed by Wade and Lebron James for most of the season, actually came to play in outplaying Elton Brand. Don't expect this to happen again, as Brand needs to assert himself better if the 76ers stand a chance. Andre Iguodala did everything but score for the 76ers in game one with nine assists, and slowing James down. Key in game two for the 76ers is keeping the game close early on as the Heat will look to put it away in the first half.

Both of Monday's games have a high probability of being blowouts as the home teams are heavy favorites. But after today's games indicated, anything can happen. Miami and Chicago win too grab a 2-0 series lead, though the games will be difficult once again.
Thaddeus Young scored 20 points in game one for the 76ers. He will find it hard to accomplish this once again

Here's an interesting fact: the Bulls were the best team during the regular season in the 4th quarter, while the Pacers were the 3rd worst in the final period. Derrick Rose was the best 4th quarter scorer, and Kyler Korver was the best 4th quarter shooter during the regular season.
