Donovan McNabb benched a sign of things to come?
November 2nd 2010 23:35
During this past Sunday's game with the Detroit Lions, coach Mike Shanahan of the Washington Redskins went with a hunch and benched former All-Pro quarterback Donovan McNabb in favor of Rex Grossman. With the score 31-25, and 1:47 on the clock, Shanahan yanked McNabb who had played the entire game.
In the days after this move Shanahan has changed his story from Grossman knowing the two minute offense more to now McNabb not being physically fit enough to keep the tempo up. Donovan has fifteen fourth quarter comebacks previously.
And today the Redskins brought in former number one pick JaMarcus Russell in for a tryout. Russell was drafted by the Oakland Raiders but was waived in May after not playing up to par. No deal was made yet for Russell though the Redskins were impressed with his talents. Washington has a bye week upcoming for Sunday.
