Dirk Nowitski led the Dallas Mavericks to a big road win Monday night, 98-96 at Miami. The win moved Dallas to 22-5 on the season and ended Miami's big winning streak. The Heat dropped to 21-9.
Dallas jumped out to an early 14-2 lead and was in control for most of the first quarter. Miami cut into the lead and trailed by just one heading into the locker-room. Nowitski totaled 17 points in the 1st half. One surprise player who kept the Heat close was backup point guard Mario Chalmers. The guard from Kansas scored 11 points mainly from three shots from behind the arc. Basketball God, Lebron James was held scoreless for the first half.
James quickly asserted himself more in the second half, scoring eight in the third, and finishing with 19 points and seven assists.
Dallas went toe to toe with the Heat not letting one player beat them. Jason Terry was big, scoring 17 points and having moments making Dwayne Wade look silly. Caron Butler added 13 for Dallas who have won 14 out of 16 games now.
Wade contributed 17 points for the Heat, and Chris Bosh scored 19 in the losing cause.
Dallas next plays Orlando on Tuesday while Miami is off until Christmas when they travel to Los Angeles to play the Lakers.
