The Indianapolis Colts will start Curtis Painter on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kerry Collins status for the game is uncertain after suffering a hit from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Farrior.
Farrior was fined $15,000 dollars for the hit. Collins was suffering from concussion-like symptoms all week. Painter has had some time throughout his career. He started for the first time back as a rookie in 2009 versus the New York Jets. The Colts already had everything wrapped up, were 14-0 on the year, so they sat Peyton Manning. Painter was on the run all game, versus the strong Jets pass rush. He completed 4 out of 11 passes on the game, and the Colts lost by two touchdowns.
Painter didn't play at all last year, and was thrust into the starting role when Manning went down. Not feeling satisfied with Painter, Indianapolis coaxed Collins out of retirement. Now they are left with nothing else as Collins has gone down.
