Commissioner to take pay cut and Green Bay news
January 27th 2011 01:04
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will accept an dramatic pay cut to $ one dollar if work stoppage does occur. Chief negotiator Jeff Pash, will also take the cut if the stoppage occurs.
Goodell makes $10 million per year, along with bonuses and Pash takes in $5 million. Goodell, also asked his office to delay any bonus payments to him, until an agreements is made.
NFL Union Chief DeMaurice Smith, claims he will take just 68 cents if the deal is made by Super Bowl.
The lockout will be in full force by March 4th if no deal is made.
Though it is nice to see Goodell and Pash, accept a pay cut, something else could be done. Let's hope the owners and the players association, can come up with a deal before the March deadline. Nothing good comes out of not having an NFL season for one year.
The NBA and NFL both are teetering on the verge of lockout's. Wouldn't that be something for both sports to have lockouts on the same season. For both leagues to get something worked out before the stoppage could occur, would be an miracle. All this talk about the possible stoppage in the NFL, especially is taking away the limelight from the upcoming Super Bowl. Time to put all this on the side until the game and the season is over.
The Green Bay Packers reversed a decision made after the NFC title game Sunday, to involve players on the injured reserve after all. The players traveled to Dallas without the injured guys, and were set to take team pictures. Guys like Nick Barnett, and Jermichael Finley can now take part in the picture. The Super Bowl is a team deal. Guys on injured reserve deserve to take part in the team festivies. So good work for Green Bay to change a wrong and make it right.

Good for the Packers though letting the players on IR take part in the festivities for the big game. At least one team is doing something right toward the players right now in the NFL... even if it did take some extra time and I'm sure a little extra prodding to make it happen.
