Seton Hall player shot by bullet: Seton Hall Pirates guard Jeremy Hazell was just returning from a party on Christmas night. He ran into four guys who wanted money from the player, to rob him. Instead of giving in, Hazell pushed his way through the guys, and took off. Four shots from a gun one of the guys carried came his way. He flagged down an nearby ambulance and found one bullet went through his right side below his armpit. Hazell was kept overnight at a hospital and released. The guard was averaging 24 points per game for the Pirates before a wrist injury stopped him late last month.
Connecticut men no longer perfect: The fourth-ranked team lost their first game last night versus Pittsburgh, 78-63. Connecticut fell to 10-1 on the season, while Pittsburgh improved to 13-1. Now only one perfect team remains in Connecticut, the women's team. Guard Kemba Walker scored 31 points for the Huskies who didn't have anyone else able to help the guy. Walker has now totaled over 20 points ten straight games, and over 30, five times this season. The Connecticut women are ranked number one for the 51st straight week. A big game is looming for the Lady Huskies, ninth-ranked Stanford on Friday.
Top scorer for Kansas, benched: Marcus Morris, an 6-8 forward for Kansas lost his starting job. The forward leads the third-ranked Jayhawks in scoring, averaging 15.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Morris was benched by Kansas coach Bill Self after the forward got ejected from a game December, 22nd for throwing an elbow at California's forward Harper Kamp. Self has no timetable for letting Morris back into the starting lineup. Thomas Robinson averaging 9.1 points and 6.9 rebounds will start in Morris's place.
Its unanimous again: Duke one week regained the top spot, without interference. Ohio State last week got one vote for the number one ranking, this week, Duke earned all 65 votes. Ohio State remained number two, followed by Kansas, Connecticut, and Syracuse.
