Polls Update: Big changes in the rankings after all the upsets over the weekend, and teams ranked losing. Ohio State remains number one, while Kansas moved up one spot to number two. Texas who is throttling teams left and right, are number three. Another huge beating was in hand for Texas A&M on Monday night as the Longhorns won 69-49. Pitt, Duke and San Diego State all fell two spots after losing over the week. Notre Dame jumped four spots after knocking off Pitt. Arizona, Utah State and North Carolina are the new entrants for the AP Poll.
Volunteers retiring an number: Tennessee will honor guard Allan Houston by retiring his no.20 versus Kentucky on March 6th. Houston scored 2,801 points while at Tennessee in 1989-1993. He trails only "Pistol" Pete Maravich as SEC's all-time scoring leader. Houston after 12 seasons in the NBA, currently is the New Jersey Nets assistant general manager.
Hoosiers losing guys: Indiana is 11-11 on the season, and has one victory over a top-25 team in Illinois. The Hoosiers on Wednesday host Minnesota. Two of coach Tom Crean's main players will not be on the sideline. Leading scorer Christian Watford averaging 17 points per game, and guard Maurice Creek aren't going to be available. Watford broke his left hand, while Creek about an week ago was lost for the season with a stress fracture in his knee.
BracketBuster schedule released: As teams jockey for position in conference races, the bracketbuster games arrive with colleges who don't normally get the attention other big schools receive. The best game of the three day showcase is St. Marys versus Utah State. Whoever wins this game, if they win their respective conference tournaments, should get a high-seed in the NCAA tournament. Both teams cracked the top-25.
UConn women dispose of Duke: In dramatic fashion, Duke, the final women's college basketball team unbeaten was defeated by Connecticut, 87-51, on Monday night. Duke who began the season winning their first 20 games didn't know what hit them. Connecticut was ahead 40-9, before the Blue Devils seemed to wake up a little and score some points. Maya Moore scored 29 points for the Huskies in the win.
