That didn't last long: Kansas took over the top-spot on Monday, by just one vote over second-ranked Texas. The Jayhawks then went out and lost to rival Kansas State, 84 to 68. Kansas came out flat and never recovered losing for the second time this year. Kansas State, predicted to be a final four participant, pre-season needed a trademark win, and this was it. The Wildcats improved to 17-9 on the year. Now if Texas holds true versus Oklahoma State and Nebraska, look for the Longhorns to take over the number-one ranking.
Fisher in trouble: San Diego State head coach Steve Fisher was a little too outspoken on Monday, resulting in being reprimanded by the Mountain West Conference. Fisher was critical of Wyoming firing head coach Heath Schroyer with six weeks remaining in the season. Schroyer had Wyoming 8-15 on the year, and was 49-68 since being hired in 2007.
Spit?: In the rush to leave the court Saturday after Ohio State lost to Wisconsin, center Jared Sullinger claimed a fan spit on his face. He tweeted about the brush with saliva after the game. Both coaches are downplaying the incident, with Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan even looking at the footage after all the fans rushed the court.
Fight in womens game: Bethune Cookman and Maryland- Eastern Shore, suspended their game Monday night after a fight broke out. Bethune was ahead at the time, 32-21 with 16:21 left on the clock. Conference officials and the NCAA are looking at tape to see what ignited the scene. Maryland- Eastern Shore won the teams earlier meeting, 69-52 on January, 18th.
Record game: Cleveland State 6'1 point guard Norris Cole produced one of the best games you will ever see last Saturday versus Youngstown State. Cole scored 41 points, and pulled down 20 rebounds. He matches Blake Griffin as the two college basketball players who have accomplished this type of game. Cleveland State won 86-76 to improve its record to 22-5 this year.
