Ohio State at Minnesota: The marquee game of the weekend, begins hours before the Super Bowl on Sunday, sees the top-ranked Buckeyes travel to division rival Minnesota. Before Sunday, an game with Michigan comes up. The Buckeyes led by Jared Sullinger, David Lighty and Jon Diebler, have shown incredible poise. Minnesota is 16-6 on the season. The Golden Gophers are led by a strong inside-outside duo of Blake Hoffarber and Trevor Mbakwe. Hoffarber leads the team with 14 points and four assists, while Mbakwe scores 13 points and 11 rebounds per game. This is a great chance for Minnesota coach Tubby Smith to finally grab that marquee win at Minnesota. Two straight losses to Purdue and Indiana, have Minnesota ripe for a victory. Look for an upset.
Arizona at California: The best game for the PAC-10 sees Arizona, once again in the top-25 travel to visit the Golden Bears of California. Cal is 12-9 on the season and have rebounded after a tough start for the season. Cal hosts Arizona State, today before the Wildcats come. Forward Harper Kamp leads the Bears with 15 points per game. Forward Derrick Williams scores about 20 points and pulls down eight rebounds per game for Arizona. Arizona travels to Stanford on Thursday and record sits at 18-4 on the year. The Wildcats are 6-1 since losing to Washington two weeks ago. This game will be a dog-fight and likely goes down to the wire. California head coach Mike Montgomery will have a trick or two up his sleeve for stopping Williams. Look for the Bears to win a tight game.
Kentucky at Florida: Both teams have been up and down through the SEC conference play thus far. Now's the time for one team to take charge. Florida is 17-5 after defeating Vanderbilt in overtime and Kentucky is 16-5 after a tough, last-second loss to Mississippi, on Tuesday night 71-69. Two freshman are leading the way for the Wildcats. Terrence Jones from Portland is averaging 18 points and nine rebounds, while guard Brandin Knight scores 17 points and four assists. The Gators can win games either by scoring a ton of points, or with their defense. Kentucky and their youth, finally break through and get a big win. Florida doesn't go down without a fight.
Butler at Cleveland State: The team who went down with an heartbreaking loss in last season's NCAA finals, Butler goes up against first-place Cleveland State. Butler won the first game between the two teams, 79-56, on January seventh. Butler is 14-8, before their Thursday game with Youngstown State. The Bulldogs lost forward Gordan Hayward to the NBA draft, and have not been the same without him. Predicted before the season by many to still be a force come March, Butler might not even reach the tournament. Cleveland State has an 20-3 record on the year, before Thursday's game with Valparaiso is led by guard Norris Cole who does a little of everything. He scores 20 points per game, plus goes for five rebounds and five assists. During the Butler loss, Norris scored 26 points and had 10 rebounds. He wasn't the problem. Butler still have Matt Howard and Shelvin Mack, who together average 33 points per game. Mack only scored six points versus Cleveland State in the earlier game. He needs to up this by ten for Butler to have a chance here. Forward Andrew Smith who scored 22 points and had 12 rebounds needs a repeat performance. Cleveland State goes down with Norris going over 30 points. Butler gets the victory.
