Boston 3-0 versus Miami

February 14th 2011 00:18
Other teams may struggle with Miami this year, but not Boston. The older big three of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce defeated the newest big three, once again 83-80, Sunday.

Rajon Rondo, made Dwayne Wade look silly, as the Celtics won on their home-court. Rondo had a triple-double with 11 points, ten rebounds and ten assists. Kevin Garnett and Chris Bosh went toe to toe with both having big games. Garnett had 19 points and seven rebounds, while Bosh had 24 points and ten boards. Paul Pierce went 0-10, and scored only one point.

Both teams shot 42% for the game, and neither team could hit a three-pointer or a free throw. The Heat went into the locker room at halftime with a 43-39 advantage. Boston had trouble's keeping up with the Heat, often times looking fatigued. This all changed in the third quarter. A 20-3 run to start the third pushed Boston to a 59-46 lead. Rondo scored six of this ten points during this spurt. Boston held onto the double figure advantage until late in the game.

Miami after a three-pointer from Wade cut the lead to eight points, at 77-69. Over eight minutes remained in the game, and Wade's shot ignited the Heat. Miami cut the lead to two points after Bosh nailed two free throws at 81-79. You could sense dramatics to occur for the final two minutes of the game. Lebron James missed the front-end of two free throws with 11 seconds left. This miss kept the Heat from tying the game, at 83. Two free throws from Glen Davis, pushed Boston up three. As Wade and James were both blanketed, Mike Miller took the last shot which ultimately rimmed out.

Boston took a 1/2 game lead in the Eastern Conference. The two teams face off again on April 10th as the top seed could be on the line.

There is a reason why. The Heat have no depth at frontcourt, while the Celtics are the deepest team in terms of bigs. The disparity between them in that aspect allows Boston to completely dominate that portion of the game.
