Big Ten Game at Wrigley to Use One Endzone
November 20th 2010 00:36
Wrigley Field, home to the Chicago Cubs, will host a Big-Ten football game Saturday between Northwestern (7-3) and Illinois (5-5). ESPN Gameday will be on hand to deliever a broadcast prior to the game, which features the Wildcats who will host the game and the Illini. Everything is going as planned for the game except one thing. Both teams have to run offense the same direction on the field. Whoever has the ball will head to west side of the field.
Due to safety concerns, the Big-Ten ruled only one endzone to be used. The east endzone is just feet away from the right-field wall which caused the change to be made. Even with padding on the wall, officials ruled the chance of injury is high.
Wrigley Field has been researched by both schools months prior to the game, even still neither team nor the Chicago Cubs had seen this coming.
Notre Dame and Army will also play their game Saturday at Yankee Stadium. As of this moment, this game will feature both endzones.
