Big Saturday games and Thursday night NFL
November 11th 2010 01:16
As Thursday night NFL play begins tomorrow between Atlanta and Baltimore, both 6-2 teams, I decided to predict a winner. This will be a great game to show off the NFL and both teams. I look for a close game with the stronger defense from Baltimore having an upperhand. Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan will be on the run with each snap. The Falcons are the home team and this factor keeps the game even closer. Baltimore wins with a late field goal.
Oregon at Cal: The Ducks have not yet won in Berkeley since Jeff Tedford left Oregon to become the head coach at Cal. Here is their first victory. Cal stands no chance to even be in the game with backup quarterback Jeff Mansion leading the way. The Ducks will once again score over 50 points in the win.
Georgia at Auburn: Not even allegations surrounding star quarterback Cam Newton nor Georgia will slow down Auburn. Georgia makes it interesting for a while, but the Tigers are too strong to have a let down here with Alabama looming soon on the schedule.
Utah at Notre Dame: The Utes rebound with a victory in South Bend. Look for a great contest here with Utah coach Kyle Whittingham having his team ready to play after last weeks lackluster effort. Notre Dame falls at the end to Utah's steady offensive output and having a backup quarterback due to Jeff Crust's injury.
Penn State at Ohio State: Joe Paterno got his 400th win last week, too bad in attempting his 401th victory the Nittany Lions have to travel to Columbus. Penn State has the defense to keep the game close, but not the offense to score. Terrell Pryor has a great day and keeps his name relevant in the Heisman Trophy race.
Oklahoma State at Texas: The Longhorns are fading fast, and now play the role of the spoiler. In one of the rare upsets on Saturday, Texas will pull this one out in Austin, sending the Cowboys to a second defeat. Time for Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert to deliever or expect a demotion.
