Portland forward LaMarcus Aldridge scored 34 points and pulled down 23 boards in the Blazers, 94-84 win over Toronto. Dwight Howard also topped the 20-20 mark in scoring 21 points and 23 rebounds as the Magic topped the LA Lakers.
In Milwaukee's 100-86 victory over the NY Knicks, point guard Brandon Jennings out-dueled Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony, totaling 36 points to 35. Milwaukee earned their first road win of the season in a game that saw Anthony get ejected for confronting Jennings after a hard foul. The Knicks have lots of talent on the team, but are struggling to put it all together, in falling to 6-9 on the year. Another team that is struggling is Boston.
The Celtics lost to a bad Phoenix team, 79-71 at home on Friday night. Age has caught up to this Celtics team as Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are having issues carrying the team. Rajon Rondo sat out the game due to injury. Boston fell to 5-9 on the season with the loss. Marcin Gortat led Phoenix with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Orlando couldn't stop Kobe Bryant in the win, but they didn't need too as the Lakers had no support. Pau Gasol scored 13 points, but no other Laker reached double figures. The Magic had five guys in double figures led by Howard and point guard Jameer Nelson who totaled 17 points.
Portland was in charge throughout the game, jumping on Toronto right out of the gate. The Blazers were ahead 27-14 after one quarter, and the lead reached 21 points before the Raptors chipped away at it. It went under ten a couple of times in the second half, but Portland always had control. The Blazers improved to 9-6 on the year. Toronto dropped to 4-12.
