Best of three now in NBA Finals
June 9th 2011 01:47
Feverish Dirk Nowitzki came up huge for Dallas in the fourth quarter to lead them to a 86-83 win over Miami. With the victory Miami and Dallas are suddenly tied in the NBA Finals. A best of three now is on tap with Dallas having one more game at home before the final two in Miami.
Nowitzki finished with 21 points after getting just 11 in the first three quarters. He missed a free throw for the first time in the Finals after connecting on 36 straight. Jason Terry, Shawn Marion and Tyson Chandler came up with big performances to aide Nowitzki. Terry scored 17 points, most of these coming in the fourth quarter, Marion added 16, and Chandler went for 13 points. The Maverick big man added 16 rebounds, nine of these on the offensive side. Chandler had issues with a certain Miami Heat guard by the name of Dwayne Wade. The former Marquette Golden Panther blocked not one but two attempted dunks by Chandler in the fourth quarter. On the second attempt, Wade was called for a foul.
Chris Bosh had a great game for the Heat, scoring 24 points. Wade kept up his tear in the playoffs by scoring 32 points on 13-20 shooting. Lebron James continued to struggle versus the Mavs. The forward scored eight points, added nine rebounds, and seven assists. Miami didn't have anyone step up off the bench like game three and Mario Chalmers did. No big night from Udonis Haslem or Mike Miller.
Miami struggled once again in the fourth quarter, while Dallas came up big. Miami was outscored 21-14 in the quarter, with Terry and Nowitzki leading the way. It was an one-man show from Miami and Wade in the quarter. No sign of James. Dallas Head Coach Rick Carlisle outcoached Miami's Erik Spoelstra in the fourth, making the change to the zone defense.
Hard to say what will happen when the ball gets tipped tomorrow. Whoever wins grabs a huge advantage in the series. Dallas needs the win more as we will head to Miami for the final two games if neccessary. I am going to opt for the Mavericks to win, and take the one game lead heading to the Sunshine State. The game figures to go down to the final whistle once again.
