Another number one team bites the dust and Sunday's games

Last week, Alabama lost to South Carolina. Yesterday, Wisconsin held on to defeat Ohio State. Who is the new number one team now? The Oregon Ducks have claimed the spot. They will face off against UCLA Thursday night, after a bye week. Later on this week, I will examine how the Bruins can be the third team in consecutive weeks to accomplish this feat.
Yesterday was the day of the upset. Not only did Ohio State lose, but fifth-ranked Nebraska, tenth-ranked South Carolina, 12th-ranked Arkansas, 19th- ranked Nevada, 22nd-ranked Air Force, and 24th-ranked Oregon State all lost Saturday. Only ten unbeaten teams remain, just midway through the season for most teams.
Sunday saw one team earn their first win of the season, the San Francisco 49ers. Thanks in part to an inept Oakland Raider offense, a victory finally came their way.
One question comes to mind when looking at the Dallas Cowboys losing another game, their fourth in five games, how much longer will coach Wade Phillips last? Not that its Phillips fault, as the team needs help. Owner Jerry Jones should instead of trying to make more money for his own pocket, work more on getting his team through this.
Another team on a downward spiral with no end in sight are the San Diego Chargers. After Sunday's loss the team is 2-4 and coach Norv Turner has already lost this team. One good thing for the Chargers is if they go 8-8, a division title could still come their way.
Now onto the night game..
