America's Oldest Football Coach Retires
November 26th 2010 06:31
Lexington, Massachusetts touts itself as the birthplace of American Liberty. One other important piece it held left his post on Thursday. Coach Bill Tighe coached his Lexington Minutemen to an 14-0 victory over Burlington in his final outing. Tighe is not your normal coach retiring. At an age of 86, he passed that normal coach line.
Tighe finished his coaching career with a record of 268-233-13. Tighe spent 62 years coaching high school football in Massachusetts after arriving back from World War II.
Facebook has a page with those who know the coach discussing what their favorite Tighe'ism is. Tighe is famous around the city of 30,355 for one-liners about football and life in general.
In comparsion, Penn St. coach Joe Paterno is 84 next month. Paterno said earlier this week he will return for another season running the Nittany Lions.
