All Hallows Eve in the NFL

October 30th 2011 20:10
What an odd day of football thus far. Of the six games being played this morning, four of them had heavy favorites in the game. Then the games played and those underdogs were in control.

The St. Louis Rams jumped on New Orleans, and held a 24-0 lead before the Saints got on the board. New Orleans is coming off a 62-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The Saints have since cut the lead down to 10 now with a few minutes to play. Drew Brees is having a terrible outing after throwing five touchdowns last week. As I am writing this, the Rams are finishing off the Saints, and getting their first win of the year. Crazy game. New Orleans continues to have issues against the terrible NFC West Division members. Last year they lost to Seattle in the wild card playoffs.

Baltimore let Arizona jump on them, en route to grabbing a 24-3 lead at halftime. The Ravens have since rallied, and took the lead at 27-24 before the Cardinals just recently tied up the game. Joe Flacco has nearly 300 yards of passing with one interception in the game. There is seven minutes left on the clock.

The Miami Dolphins held a late first half lead over the New York Giants, 14-3. New York came back and won the game, 20-17, but the Dolphins did have a decent chance at getting their first win on the year. Eli Manning passed for 349 yards in the win.

Tennessee whipped the Indianapolis Colts, keeping Peyton Manning's team win-less on the year. And Houston is holding off Jacksonville, 21-14 with a couple of minutes left. The game of the day so far is Minnesota versus Carolina. The Panthers are driving with the score at 24-21 in favor of the Vikings. Olinda Mare just missed the game-tying field goal with less then a minute left. Both quarterbacks had good games on the day, Christian Ponder earned his first win of his career. Both teams are 2-6.

What a wild day so far of football, more great games are sure to happen the rest of the way.
Chris Long had three sacks in the Rams win over the Saints
