Just about three days away from the Super Bowl, here is a review of the teams participating regular season and playoffs. New England had the top record in the AFC, and NY Giants posted a 9-7 record, winning the NFC East division.
Early on this season, for the Giants things didn't look too good as they lost to the Washington Redskins in week one, by a score of 28-14. Things changed for the better after this loss, in getting three wins in a row. Then came a bad loss to Seattle, 36-25 at home. The Giants won three more in a row,including a win over New England, before hitting a bad spot in the schedule. The loss to San Francisco on Nov. 13th, began a four-game losing streak. A victory over Dallas on Sunday night football, got things back on the right track. The next week however, questions were back as the team lost to Washington again. The Giants won their final two games of the season to earn a playoff spot and the division.
In the wildcard round, New York demolished Atlanta, 24-2. This win was extra special as it showed the team, their defense was back. Next week, the Giants went to Lambeau Field and whipped Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay, 37-20. Then in the NFC title game, New York beat San Francisco, 20-17 in overtime.
New England started the season with a bang, in beating Miami 38-24. The team followed this win, with another in beating San Diego. Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and New York are the only teams to beat New England this season. The Steelers and Giants losses were back to back. New England has won 10 straight games, since their loss to the Giants.
In the divisional round after a first round bye, the Patriots whipped Denver, 45-10. Then in the AFC title game, New England thanks to a late missed field goal, beat Baltimore by three points.
