A look at the playoffs if the season ended today
April 5th 2011 22:06
Western Conference:
1. San Antonio (58-19) vs 8. Memphis (44-33)- This series is tied at two games apiece. Memphis with Zach Randolph in the middle and Mike Conley as the point guard, can give the Spurs a good test. Though missing Rudy Gay hurts.
2. Los Angeles Lakers (55-21) vs 7.New Orleans (44-33)- The Lakers swept the Hornets this year. Losing David West to injury hurts the Hornets even more. Now that Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum have been ruled okay to return to games, the Hornets have no chance.
3. Dallas (53-24) vs 6. Portland (45-32)- Both Portland and Dallas won two games apiece in their season series. Portland has won the last two in the series. The Blazers have the guys to compete with the Mavericks. Series would go the entire seven games.
4. Oklahoma City (50-26) vs 5. Denver (47-29)- Two games are left to play between these teams set to meet in the playoffs. Both teams have won one game thus far. Game three is later on today, with the Nuggets hosting the Thunder. Oklahoma City would be expected to win the series, though again the Nuggets will make it difficult.
Eastern Conference:
1. Chicago (56-20) vs 8. Indiana (35-43)- The season series is at three games to one, in favor of Chicago. The Pacers did win the last meeting, 115-108 in overtime. The Bulls would be heavy favorites to make quick work of the Pacers.
2. Miami (54-23) vs 7. New York (38-38)- Back in the 90's these two teams staged some heated playoff games. We can only hope for more of the same. New York has won the last two games in the season series to knot it up at two.
3. Boston (53-23) vs 6. Philadelphia (40-37)- Boston leads the season series two games to one. The fourth game between the two is set for later today. Would be an interesting series with the aging Celtics against the young 76ers.
4. Orlando (48-29) vs 5. Atlanta (44-33)- The series is tied at one game apiece. Orlando with Dwight Howard should take the series, though the Hawks have something to prove, and will likely make it a good one.

Ty Lawson and the Nuggets play Oklahoma City twice in the upcoming week as a preview for the playoffs
