Ohio State is the overall top-seed for the tournament and the number one-seed here. The Buckeyes are 32-2, and await the winner of Alabama State and Texas-San Antonio. Neither 16-seeded team has a chance here as Jared Sullinger and the Buckeyes coast to the second round. The Roadrunners of Texas San-Antonio are rolling right now versus Alabama State, ahead 48-21 at halftime. Melvin Johnson III is one to watch for the Roadrunners. He leads all scorers at half with 25 points.
North Carolina is the second-seed with a record of 26-7. Long Island won the Northeast Conference final and are the 15th-seed. The Blackbirds have a record of 27-5. Long Island has won 21 out of their last 22 games. North Carolina entered the ACC final on a nine-game winning streak. Harrison Barnes and Tyler Zeller are too good for the Blackbirds. Long Island has a talented duo to watch in Jamal Olaswhere and Julian Boyd. North Carolina wins, pulling away after a close first half.
Indiana State after winning the Missouri Valley conference final is the 14th-seed, taking on third-seeded Syracuse. The Orangemen are 26-7, after winning their first 18 games on the season. Indiana State is 20-13 led by Dwayne Lathan who averages 12 points per game. Syracuse is too solid of an opponent for the Sycamores to keep up with. Syracuse cruises.
Kentucky won the SEC conference final, entering the East as the fourth-seed. Princeton after winning the Ivy Conference is the 13th-seed, and 25-6. Kentucky is 25-8 on the year, led by a clan of youngsters. Brandon Knight and Terrance Jones are the stars for the Wildcats, combining for 35 points. Princeton is a slow-down team, who will encounter troubles with Kentucky's size. Four guys average in double-figures for the Tigers, who keep this game close before bowing out in the second half. Kareem Maddox and Ian Hummer lead the way, averaging 14 points, apiece.
West Virginia is the fifth-seed coming from the Big East with a record of 20-11. The Mountaineers take on the winner of the play-in game, Clemson. The Tigers are 22-11 on the year. Clemson gave North Carolina a run for their money in the ACC tournament. West Virginia doesn't score too many points, but have a great defense. Kevin Jones is the leading scorer with 13 points and seven rebounds. The Mountaineers win a tight game in the final moments versus Clemson.
