Here's a few of the big games this weekend:
Missouri at Texas A&M: One of two battles between teams in the top-25, sees Missouri at 12, and the Aggies at 13. Both teams have been impressive so far in this season, yet now as conference play begins, the real elite sprout up. Missouri (15-2) opened Big-12 play with an loss to Colorado, 89-76 last Saturday, but rebounded with a win over Nebraska. Missouri wins by outscoring their opponents, averaging 85 points per game, fifth in the nation. Junior guard Marcus Denmon leads the way with 17.6 points. Texas A&M's rise has been a big surprise. Predicted by many to be a middle of the pack team, the Aggies only loss was too Boston College on November 25th, 67-65. Wins over both Oklahoma schools moved the aggies to 15-1 on the season. Other then wins over Washington and Temple, their schedule has been a tad on the soft side. Khris Middleton leads the team with 15 points a game. Should be a great test for Texas A&M to see if they are a pretender or an actual threat to Kansas and others in the Big-12.
Illinois at Wisconsin: The second of the games with teams in the top-25. Illinois is at 16, and Wisconsin at 21. Illinois (13-4) is coming off a shocking 57-55 loss to Penn State for their first loss in conference play. Wisconsin (12-4) under coach Bo Ryan is always a threat not only in the Big-10 but in the NCAA tourney later on in the season. A tough loss to Michigan State in overtime, 64-61 was their last battle. The inside-outside combination of Jim Leur and Jordan Taylor account for about half of Wisconsin's points. Leur averages 18.8 points, and 7.3 rebounds. Taylor scores 16.6, and 4.7 assists. The Illini are paced by point guard Demitri McCamey averaging 15.5 points and 7.1 assists. Look for a great game with both teams fighting it out.
Virginia at Duke: The Blue Devils are coming off their first loss of the season, Wednesday versus Florida State, will look to rebound in a big way here. Too bad for Virginia that they get Duke after that first loss. Virginia (10-6) on paper has no chance against Duke. Virginia needs all it can get from anyone on the roster to have a chance here. Duke will win here with ease and get back on track.
Washington State at Stanford: On the line here is a chance to keep up with Arizona and Washington in the PAC-10. A tough start for Washington State in PAC-10 includes losses to UCLA, USC and California. The Cougars are 12-5 overall and 2-3 in PAC-10 play. Junior guard Klay Thompson is one of the best players in the PAC-10. He averages 23 points a game, pacing the Cougars. Stanford (10-5) has one loss in conference play to Arizona, last Sunday. A balanced scoring attack pushes the Cardnial. Guard Jeremey Green is number one on the team scoring 15 points a game. Stanford doesn't score too much points, using a great team defense to win games. The Cougars need a big game from Thompson. He is coming off a 36 point effort in an overtime loss to California. Other guys will need to help Thompson as the Cardnial defense will look to apply pressure defense.
