8 Interceptions in the Raiders loss to Kansas City

October 23rd 2011 23:28
The Kansas City Chiefs ruined Carson Palmer's coming out party as a new member of the Oakland Raiders, in winning 28-0. Palmer and Kyle Boller both threw three interceptions apiece as the Chiefs rolled.

Two of the six interceptions were returned for touchdowns by the Chiefs defense adding to the Raiders dismay. Brandon Flowers took one back for a touchdown and Kendrick Lewis took back the other. Boller became the first NFL quarterback in 13 years to throw three interceptions in a half. Guess this is why the Raiders paid such a high price for Palmer. Matt Cassel threw two interceptions in the ugly game for both teams. The Chiefs improved to 3-3 and the Raiders fell to 4-3.

Denver spotted Miami a 15-0 lead then came back in the end riding Tim Tebow to the win in overtime. The Broncos placekicker Matt Prater drove in a 52-yard field goal to get the Broncos the win. Miami remained winless on the season, while the Broncos got two wins now. Tebow passed for 161 yards and rushed for 65 in the game. Matt Moore had a decent outing for the Dolphins, passing for 197 yards.

Then in the marquee game of the day, the Chargers lost to New York Jets, 27-21. The Chargers were ahead most of the way until the end as the Jets scored 17 unanswered points in the second half. Plaxico Burress had three touchdown catches and Shonn Greene rushed for 112 yards in the game. Philip Rivers tossed two interceptions in the loss, only passing for 179 yards.

None of the three quarterbacks playing in that game were any good, and it's all the more reason why the Raiders should retain Jason Campbell. Again, the Carson Palmer trade was moronic from the start; Al Davis wouldn't approve of this one. I mean, Jason Campbell was one of his- and of my- favorite players. Anyway, Campbell is the game manager who plays solid football and doesn't turn it over; they need him back. Palmer definitely won't be this bad, but he ain't gonna be good either for sure.
