49ers outlast Saints in wild finish

The 49ers and Saints game was a classic on paper, the fourth-ranked defense from San Francisco facing the top offense in the league in New Orleans. After a slow start, the game ended up being a classic on the field as well. The 49ers beat New Orleans, 36-32.
San Francisco jumped on New Orleans right away thanks to Saints turnovers. The lead jumped to 17-0 before the Saints got on the board after one Drew Brees interception and two Darren Sproles fumbles were lost. In all the Saints turned the ball over five times. Yet, by halftime the 49ers lead was cut to three after two second quarter touchdown passes by Brees.
After a couple of field goals by both teams, put the 49ers up 23-17, New Orleans finally began to break through against the 49ers defense. A 44-yard touchdown pass from Brees to Sproles, put the Saints up by one point with 4:44 left on the clock. The 49ers answered right away with a 30-yard run by quarterback Alex Smith. Then the Saints came back and took the lead again on a 66-yard touchdown pass from Brees to Jimmy Graham. The Saints tacked on a two-point conversion, making the score 32-29, with less then two minutes left.
The 49ers moved the ball once again down the field, as Smith hit his tight end Vernon Davis for two big receptions, including the game winner with less then 10 seconds left.
San Francisco awaits the winner of today's game with the NY Giants and Green Bay. New Orleans is out again after losing another road playoff game.
