The San Francisco 49ers defeated Tampa Bay 48-3 on Sunday afternoon. Head coach Jim Harbaugh's team is 4-1 on the year after the win. Running back Frank Gore led the way for San Francisco picking up 125 yards on the ground.
The game which tied Detroit's victory over Kansas City as the biggest blowout of the season so far, started out close for the first quarter. This all changed when Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman threw his first of two interceptions to Carlos Rodgers who took the ball in for a touchdown. Soon later Gore scored on the ground as the home team pushed the lead to 24-3 by half. Two more touchdown passes later from 49ers quarterback Alex Smith and the team turned to rookie backup Colin Kaeperdnick. The Nevada quarterback led the team on one more touchdown drive before the game ended.
Minnesota got their first win of the year over Arizona, thanks to an offensive outburst in the first quarter. When the smoke cleared, Donovan McNabb and the team had a 28-0 lead after the quarter. Minnesota beat the Cardinals, 34-10. In other action, Seattle actually got a win, a surprising victory over the NY Giants 36-25. Eli Manning produced a career best passing for 420 yards and three touchdowns, but he also tossed three interceptions, including the final one former Oregon State cornerback Brandon Browner took back for a touchdown.
Another NFC East team, Philadelphia continued their struggles by losing for the fourth time in five games this year. Buffalo beat the Eagles, 31-24 earning their fourth win on the year. Michael Vick tossed four interceptions in the game. He became the all-time leading rusher for a quarterback in NFL history, running for 90 yards on five carries.
