16-30 Picks in NBA Draft Analyzed
June 25th 2011 00:16
16. Philadelphia: Nicola Vucevic. The new starting center at Philadelphia if they lose Samuel Dalembert? Vucevic is a solid center who can bring double-doubles to the 76ers every game.
17. New York: Iman Shumpert. The New York fans in audience were shocked by this pick at the draft. Shumpert is not much of a scorer, more of a defensive threat.
18. Washington: Chris Singleton. Singelton can play any position on the court. Great pick for the Wizards.
19. Milwaukee: Tobias Harris. The Bucks really went after the small forward position. This was a weak spot before the draft. If Harris develops he can be a good professional player.
20. Houston: Donatas Montiejunas. Montiejunas fell after being projected in the top 10. The Rockets needed a big man, and Montiejunas if he can add muscle will help out up front.
21. Portland: Nolan Smith. Portland wants to get rid of Armon Johnson and Patty Mills, here is the new backup to Raymond Felton. Smith is a very smart, pass first point guard. He is a bit of an reach at the 21st pick though.
22. Denver: Kenneth Faried. The Nuggets added one of the best rebounders ever to play college basketball. Faried is a very high energy power forward. Love the pick here.
23. Chicago: Nikola Mirotic. Mirotic ends Kyle Korver's stay at Chicago. He is a very athletic European player. Nice pick here.
24. Oklahoma City: Reggie Jackson. Another Russell Westbrook? Jackson is a shoot first point guard. He led Boston College in points last year, and his addition marks the end of Eric Maynor at Oklahoma City.
25. New Jersey: Marshon Brooks. Brooks is a scorer who will head the Nets bench players as a big-time offensive threat.
26. Denver: Jordan Hamilton. Denver wanted a guy like Hamilton in case they lost Aaron Affalo or J.R. Smith to free agency. Hamilton will fit in nicely with Denver.
27. Boston: JaJuan Johnson. Reunited once again with E'Twaun Moore at Boston. Both Johnson and Moore will make the roster. Johnson can play both the power forward and center positons.
28. Miami: Norris Cole. Cole scored 52 points in a college game last season, and also recorded a triple-double which included 20 rebounds. And he is a guard. Cole is a great pick up for the Heat.
29. San Antonio: Corey Joseph. San Antonio adds the new backup to Tony Parker after dealing George Hill. Joseph was a pass first point guard, who lacks much of a shot. He is a good addition to the Spurs who had a solid day at the draft.
30. Chicago: Jimmy Butler. The Bulls are really looking to solidify the shooting guard and small forward spots in the draft after taking Butler and Mirotic. Butler is cut out of the same mold as Ronnie Brewer. He is a solid defensive player, who will not be counted on to score.
